Hospyboard — More effective patient support

Imagine yourself in a hospital bed after a serious accident involving a truck. You are now in a room with the inability to move.
After you wake up, an urgent desire to drink is felt, you decide to press the red button on the remote control to call the medical staff.
Unfortunately, the hospital is overcrowded and the staff are overwhelmed. The minutes pass and a nurse finally arrives, she was busy closing the shutter of a patient who had called her before. When she arrives in the room, she asks you the reason for your call and she will therefore have to go back to get a glass of water. She comes back after long minutes with it, but it’s too late, you’ve passed out from dehydration.

As you may have noticed, this story could have turned out better. Indeed, the remote control does not integrate a priority system for emergencies, the nurse was not able to estimate the degree of importance of the request or target it precisely.
If the remote control integrated specific requests, such as asking for food, drink or toilet, the nurses would save time in their travels, so their work would be more efficient.
This is why we have decided to respond to this problem by creating Hospyboard, we are providing a mobile application in addition to the remote control of the hospital bed, in order to provide comfort for both the patient and the medical staff.

So let’s go back to our original story, you feel an urgent desire to drink, instead of calling a medical staff by the remote control, you press a button on your mobile application to specify your request, in this case, the button to ask to drink.
The nurse receives a notification on her professional smartphone, she knows you are thirsty and therefore brings you a glass of water in time, you have not passed out.

The medical staff have a mobile application connected to a dashboard. This one displays the number of rooms where requests have been made as well as other modifiable module such as the level of patient perfusion. All this information is therefore centralized to allow the medical staff to have a better organization.

Requests can be more specific, for example if the patient needs something in particular, they can write it down or dictate it by voice from their mobile application, so that the medical staff can take it into account from their dashboard or their mobile application.

In conclusion, we want to improve the working conditions of medical staff and the comfort of patients thanks to technology by offering them a complete and scalable solution.

Here is an overview of the main functionality of the patient’s mobile app where they specify their request and establish their priority.

Do not hesitate to give us your opinion! We would be delighted to hear your feedback on our study project.
